About Us
About Her Birthright
Her Birthright exists to support expecting and new Black mothers during one of life’s most transformative journeys. We believe every mother deserves access to the resources, education, and advocacy needed to ensure her health and the health of her baby—regardless of where she lives or her circumstances.
Our Founder
Demi Whittaker, founder of Her Birthright, started this organization out of a personal passion to address the disparities in maternal health that disproportionately affect Black women. After witnessing the challenges Black mothers face firsthand and recognizing the lack of accessible resources, Demi was determined to create a company that empowers mothers with the tools, education, and support they deserve. Her vision is rooted in both personal experience and a commitment to social impact.
Our Mission
To empower Black mothers with wellness tools, educational resources, and advocacy support, reducing disparities in maternal and infant health, and helping families thrive.
The Challenge We Address
Black mothers in the United States face disproportionate risks during pregnancy and childbirth. Maternal mortality rates for Black women are nearly three times higher than the national average, and infant mortality rates for Black babies are more than double that of white babies. These statistics reflect systemic inequities and gaps in access to care and support.
How We Help
Her Birthright provides practical solutions to these challenges, including:
Prenatal and postpartum wellness kits with essential health tools like blood pressure monitors and educational resources.
Guidance and advocacy resources designed specifically for Black women navigating pregnancy and early motherhood.
Community-focused programs to educate, support, and uplift mothers and families.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every Black mother has the tools, knowledge, and support she needs for a safe, informed, and empowered birth experience. Through partnerships with ministries, foundations, and community organizations, Her Birthright is growing its reach to serve families nationwide.
Why It Matters
Supporting mothers means supporting generations. By addressing maternal and infant health disparities, Her Birthright empowers families to thrive, strengthens communities, and champions equity in healthcare and wellness.
Her Birthright is more than a company—it’s a movement, led by Demi Whittaker, dedicated to ensuring every mother and child has the birthright to care, knowledge, and support.
